Some Thoughts

A few musings from the team at Egglab Creative Agency.

Animation – We make moving images

21st April 2015
We make moving images – Video and animation We’ve been around for 11 years and in that time have worked with clients such as Ogilvy Healthcare, Weber Shandwick, Edelman and the Cabinet Office. One of our most popular products in that time has been videos for new business pitches. What’s that? Put simply, this is a video or animation that provides a powerful emotive advertisement for you, your product and company. Guaranteed to break the death by Power Point factor that plagues many business presentations. Increasingly many business to business products are becoming more abstract, or could be termed as soft or even intangible. Our new business videos offer a fun platform for difficult to grasp sales concepts, illustrated with animation, music and real world examples. If you work in business to business communications and are having a hard time pitching your unique insights to your dream clients – we’ll be happy to help. We make moving images.

The importance of a brand

2nd February 2015
The importance of a brand We’re a full service design and creative agency, which means we’ll do pretty much anything so long as it involves getting creative with corporate communications. At egglab our aim is to convince new clients that even the smallest improvement of your company’s look can invigorate you, your clients and your sales. It doesn’t mean reinventing the wheel and it needn’t cost an arm and a leg. How so? Well take as an example your logo. We know its a big deal to change this. But like it or not, design becomes dated and in turn, so can your companies identity (in a bad way). We will offer to take a look at this and see how we can improve upon it. This may include looking at a new type face, tweaking brand colours, or even a re rendering of your existing logo. We call this process, ‘the brand health check’ and (drum roll) we offer a free consultation, plus free draft designs. Sound good? Pick up the phone or email us. We’re mere inches from our work-stations, eager to please.

Egglab creative agency in 60 seconds Put simply, good design is good communication. And that’s what we at Egglab creative agency do for our clients. We help them communicate. How do we approach your requirements? From our point of view, it’s all about listening. Understanding what you’re trying to communicate and why. You could be pitching for new business and need a wow factor in your Powerpoint deck. Perhaps you need an animated banner or some printed collateral for a networking event. Maybe your web designer would benefit from some fresh creative ideas for your homepage. Maybe you want to go the whole hog and re-brand from root to tip. Whatever your requirements and in whatever media, the trick is to captivate your audience in an instance. Well designed communications can’t fail to get ahead of the game in both your clients and competitors eyes. Call us for a free face-to-face consultation. We offer free initial draft designs on any project you’re looking to develop. If you like our creative concepts – we’ll be happy to develop them further.

egglab loves… book cover design

3rd January 2015
egglab loves… book cover design ith the increasing popularity of e-Books and e-Readers, the landscape of publishing is evolving rapidly. For me, personally, e-Readers will never be able to replace the unique relationship a reader has with a real book – the touch, smell, weight and individual design. There’s something to relish about cracking the spine of a new book (or in my case, avoiding it for as long as possible). Each coffee stain and dog-eared page tells a story of the reader’s experience during their read, a reminder of where the book has travelled with them. Publishers are now being pushed towards creating innovative book cover designs that elevate the books to be desirable objects in themselves. In Julian Barnes acceptance speech, at the Man Booker Prize in 2011 for his book “A Sense of an Ending”, he personally praised and thanked the novel’s  cover designer Suzanne Dean. “Those of you who’ve seen my book – whatever you may think of its contents – will probably agree that it is a beautiful object. And if the physical book, as we’ve come to call it, is to resist the challenge of the e-book, it has to look like something worth buying and worth keeping.” I have been known to go into a book shop, looking for a particular book, and then go home empty handed because I’m not so keen on the book jacket design – only pure desperation will provoke me to buy a book with, dare I say it, a cover based on a film or TV adaptation. Such is the importance of a publisher revamping their design every so often in order to appeal to new target audiences. Whilst the actual experience of reading is a incredibly intimate and individual, a book cover can share something of this moment with those around you. I can’t help but try and take sneaky peaks at those around on me on the tube to see what they are reading – there’s always a less than insignificant feeling of smugness when it’s something I’ve read. I know where they’ve been escaping to within those pages. It can also act as barometer for what’s popular at that moment, a couple of years ago it was near impossible to step on to any form of public transport and avoid the flash of orange and white from the incredibly iconic design of “One Day” by David Nicholls. But then, given that (rather depressingly) Fifty Shades was the most downloaded book from Amazon in 2012, I suppose the majority of those reading e-Books would rather not let everyone else know what they’re reading. When a book cover design is truly successful it forms a fundamental part of the reader experience, so intrinsically linked as to the content of the book as to become inseparable in the reader’s mind. Below are some examples of some books which I believe I have achieved this hard task. To see more, check out our Pinterest board full of brilliant
